About Noel
Noel Marcantel is a native of Jennings, Louisiana who has built his photography brand around travel, thrill seeking, and a genuine connection with his subjects. In his travel, commercial, and portrait genres, Noel approaches his work with a deep passion for the Earth, people, and how we are all connected. Noel believes that everyone has the capacity for adventure within themselves and all it takes to do something incredible is to utter one simple, yet frightening word: Yes.
As a student in Noel’s workshops, you’ll learn how to recognize, predict, and control light to capture the purest essence of your subject and surroundings. You’ll also master composition as a powerful tool to evoke particular emotional responses from your audience and lend gravity to your subjects. He’ll take you step-by-step through approaching and appraising a scene, finding atypical perspectives, capturing your ideal frame, and post-processing your images to fulfill their most engaging potential.
In his workshops, Noel utilizes a blend of classroom instruction, on-location guided shooting, live post-processing demonstrations, and image critique.
Noel is a former staff photographer and writer for DIG Magazine whose work has been featured on album covers, as commercial advertising, in print magazines, newspapers, blogs, and online publications worldwide. He has shot on location across the United States and internationally, both as an officer in the United States Marine Corps and as a photographer.
Noel believes truly special photography serves a purpose; that people and places and are much more than just names on a page or dots on a map. Great photography is about mastering the art of visual storytelling, of creating two-dimensional images with three dimensions of life.
Noel currently resides in New Orleans selling his travel and adventure prints in conjunction with his headshot, wedding, portrait, and commercial photography business.
